For us, youth are already citizens, not just potential ones, so it is important that our activities match this philosophy. Besides various one-off initiatives, we have regular groups all year long. The group of apprentice journalists aims to meet with the candidates for the position of mayor of the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. GAM’s young reporters will ask their questions in order to exercise their right to information and participation under the meaning of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Garage à musique’s children’s rights committee is a space where youth can discuss the subjects that affect them. In this manner, they can make connections with children’s rights and take action to implement them.
