Our Team

Garage à musique is dependent on the constant dedication of the workers, professionals and many volunteers who share their time and knowledge.

The team is made up of professionals at the core of the social pediatrics model, that is, a doctor, a clinical nurse, a lawyer-mediator and a psychosocial worker. Attached to this core are a clinical coordinator, a music therapist and six psychosocial workers / education specialists.

The teams offering services is completed with a dozen of professional musicians, a learning specialist, a remedial teacher and specialized tutors.

The musical director and the School Acces Center’s manager work closely with the Clinical Director. The team also has an executive assistant and an administrative assistant.

Children speak the thruth, are sincere and only want to communicate with the world. To win their trust we have to respect them and listen to what they have to say. As long as I can, I will be there to protect them, look after their health and emotional well-being.

I was very young when I realized that I was going to make a career in the arts. Music became my life and my passion. As an artist, I run on creativity and I work with the team to pass this energy on to the children. I want them to be as wonder-struck as I am!

GAM’s mission is the achievement of what I’ve always wanted to do: put children back at the centre of things, with the means to fulfill their full potential. I’ve been lucky enough to see these children flourish every day when they create their music. I feel like I’m in the right place!

Learning is the destination if a lifetime. The challenges we meet along the way lead us to find the most creative version of ourselves. My best moments are when my pupils’ eyes light up and we experience a revelation together. I’m happy to give them learning strategies that will be lifetime tools.

1, 2, 3, 4… Setting the beat means giving life to the music and a voice to the young musician, to you, the budding citizen standing proudly in front of an audience. When the last note is played, it still sounds among the applause. Your spirit brightens! You know that you can count on yourself! Shall we start again? 1, 2 ,3 ,4…

Each person is unique and has many strengths and abilities. Every day I am in contact with this incredible richness. I think it’s of prime importance to help children and parents to reflect their strengths and use them to reach their goals. Seeing children flourish and surpass themselves is always a very precious moment for me.

I was born into a privileged environment, but I soon saw that not everyone had the same chances, even here in Québec. I’m a rebel by nature and I’ve always wanted to defend the rights of children for whom the system has no solutions. Thanks to GAM and Dr. Julien, I can be very proud of my work.

Working at GAM is having the immense privilege of being part of a magical environment. I love to hear music ring out when I create connections with youth and take care of their family. I love putting all my energy into improving the quality of life of children young and old.

I’ve chosen to work with children because I’m convinced that how they see the world, along with their creativity, ideas, spontaneity, sense of humour and sensitivity, need to be seen and valued to make our society more just and innovative.

I welcome you to GAM with my best smile. If you and your family have just arrived in Québec, we can help you to express your worries and your needs! I’m an immigrant, too, and one day Dr. Julien stretched out his hand to me. We’re there for you!

GAM is a cheerful, colorful, lively place where every child is welcomed as he or she is, regardless of background or origin. As a pediatric center, we care for the health of every child, defined as a state of physical, mental and social well-being. All this under a backdrop of song, music and kindness.

– The trombone doesn’t have valves. – What? How? It won’t work if there aren’t any valves! – Of course it will work! The length of your slide determines how high a sound is. The longer your slide, the lower the sound. – Look, Mr. Fortin, my slide is long and there’s no sound coming out. – Ah! Well, now you need to

I’m friendly and open-minded, and I listen. When I was young, a mentor introduced me to music and the joy it brings to me, and that’s what I want to pass on. I love helping youth to face challenges and then see them proud and happy about their progress and their successes.
